This is a sincere question. I'm genuinely not looking for the snarky answer. What is the deal with Buck Angel? Buck has a long, horrible history of promoting the worst of this, everything from the porn to glamorizing it to pushing women into medically transitioning. Then Buck plays the role of criticizing it, being a sex realist, saying this is absolutely not for children, and mocking trans activists to the point that trans activists see Buck as one of their worst enemies. But while saying this isn't for kids and criticizing trans activist rhetoric and legitimately being the person who helps liberals into questioning the trans movement, Buck is still preaching transition as a good thing and engaging in exploitation and making money off of the young people Buck claims to be worried about through box "entertainment" and product being sold. But what trans person is buying Buck's stuff since activists see Buck as a traitor and a bigot? So seriously, what is Buck getting out of this? Has Buck found some lucrative sweet spot for playing both sides of this while making almost everyone mad?

Excellent questions. Many gender critical pander to Buck Angel. Why?

Yes. Buck Angel is a blight on Abigail Shrier's otherwise excellent book. Buck was involved with 'LGBT Courage Coalition' at the beginning, which was one reason I was suspicious and disappointed in that group initially. They recently dropped the T and go by 'LGB Courage Coalition' now, and it seems like they dropped their involvement with Buck too. Good. (I would love to hear what happened behind-the-scenes but I don't think we will.) Thank you for exposing Buck (as it were) in this piece.

The FTM YouTube influencers were a blight as well. No one would know that unless they looked them up but the book description was far from accurate.

IMO, they are primarily a sales pitch for industry... what they sell is a cult lifestyle dependent on drugs, surgeries, and often porn. I suspect we will soon see more and more in the market for 'families' and posts about their baby making adventures using ART. The industry is prepped and ready.

First the fertility of young women is stripped away and to solve the problem they created, here comes assisted fertility technology. Many women in the UK are protesting the exploitation of women who agree to be surrogates. Awareness of how dangerous these technologies are proving to be is spreading.

Yes, I know you're aware, but others who may want to hear specifics can look at the excellent analysis of COI by Canadian Gender Report https://genderreport.ca/bias-not-evidence-dominate-transgender-standard-of-care/ Your article poses an update or part II. I believe they see buck as a way to reach liberal people who see any criticism of what's happening in this movement as transphobia. Having those criticisms come from Buck and other trans people allow for people on the left to

consider those opinions with out fearing they're being trans phobic because they're being said by trans people. I was 100% a supporter of all things gender ideology and truly believed doctors and therapist knew what they were doing until it came to my ROGD child and I saw that that there was literally no thought or differential diagnosis happening. Even as I saw the problem with my own eyes, in the beginning I was so scared of questioning this that I would only read criticisms coming from trans and LGBTQ people. So I understand why gender critical people engage with Buck - to teach people like I used to be. What I don't understand is Buck's motivation and what Buck is getting out of it. It really seems like an attempt at playing both sides and being a contrarian not for a true personal belief but for a personal (financial? attention seeking?) benefit.

Not one of the "GC trans" crowd have any value to ending all this crazy. Their shtick is "TrueTrans". They're the "real" ones, all the new ones aren't "real".

All of this makes me want to vomit. If we put all this energy into breast cancer, we could have a preventive or an effective, non-harmful cure by now. Instead, all of these resources are spent on chopping off healthy breasts, encouraging body hatred and body rejection, and mangling genitalia of vulnerable young men and women, (nice that we are so egalitarian!). When all the movies start being made, nobody will believe this is our actual history. They will have to be written as if they are depicting a fictional, dystopian future.

There will never be cures for cancer. Cancers are simply our body telling us we're old or living wrong.

Really excellent research and writing. I lived in Broward County for the first decade of 2000s.

I'd like to add an externality to your excellent facts. On the open society side, in the early 2000s, the Gnu-atheist movement was thriving. Gnu-atheism as a movement was largely a result of atheist groups taken over by larger/better funded Humanist organisations. In those early years, we atheists ((old school and Gnu) were being active in in-person gatherings and activism in Broward County. Schools were filling with GSAs (Gay-Straight Alliances) and this was basically THE new campaign ground and funding driver for the gnu-atheists/CFI/Humanist organisations.

Online atheist communities were not only misogynistic, but an online home for misogynist "gender" ideology. I got my first Internet forum bans for disbelieving "gender" bullshit in 2008. GSAs only existed as "gay-straight" for a couple of years before they TRANSformed into "Gender and Sexuality Associations".

Gnu-Atheism in its ideological realities (à la Richard Dawkins, leader of Humanism International for many years, who now identifies as "culturally Christian") is very aligned with TransHumanism, post-modernism, cyborgism, fear of death/seeking of eternal life and Spock's most evil line (philosophically) "Live Long and Prosper" which was a Leitmotiv in atheist circles.

The circle jerk is so vast, and it's why it's so hard to take down. Our newest "GC allies" only see the recent surface.
